Excursion VERA

Scientific Excursion to the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA)

Join us on our first scientific excursion as we visit the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA), Austria’s premier facility for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS). Since its inauguration in 1996, VERA has played a vital role in enabling precise and rapid analysis of rare radioactive isotopes, making it an essential tool for a wide range of applications in environmental science, archaeology, biomedicine, and beyond.

During our guided tour, we will explore how AMS is used to determine isobaric isotope ratios with exceptional sensitivity—allowing researchers to investigate radioisotopes across the entire nuclide chart. This visit offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into cutting-edge research techniques and the infrastructure behind them.

Whether you are interested in nuclear chemistry, environmental monitoring, or analytical science, this excursion promises to be both educational and inspiring.
